My name is David Mosna, and I hold a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Parma, with a focus on the environmental impact of food and the valorization of food waste.
During my doctoral studies, I specialized in topics related to climate change, food processing, and the development of new technologies for food waste reutilization. In particular, I conducted research as part of a project funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, aimed at optimizing the food supply chain. This experience allowed me to work within an interdisciplinary team composed of three Italian universities and six industry partners, where I developed both technical and managerial skills.
Academic Background:
• Diploma in Agricultural Technology from the Edmund Mach Foundation (Trento).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Industry Engineering from the University of Trento (2008-2012).
• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering for the Food Industry from the University of Parma (2012-2014).
Throughout my studies, I built a strong technical foundation, but I felt the need to apply my knowledge in a more dynamic environment with a strong social impact. For this reason, during the second year of my Ph.D., I decided to apply for a Civil Service project abroad in the WASH and agricultural production sector. This opportunity led me to spend a year in Kenya, where I engaged with institutional stakeholders, coordinated an international team, and worked closely with local communities.
This experience marked a turning point in my career: I realized that my path lay in the field of international cooperation.
From May 2018 to January 2022, I worked as a Project Coordinator for ENGIM Internazionale in Guinea- Bissau, managing both the operational and administrative aspects of a project aimed at strengthening agricultural vocational training in the country. The project, funded by the European Commission and CEI, focused on ensuring the sustainability of the CIFAP vocational training center in Bula. Over these four years, I gained extensive expertise in international cooperation project management, developing skills in coordination, administration, and technical training in areas such as food processing, beekeeping, and horticulture. I also collaborated with ENABEL to train students and local agricultural entrepreneurs.
To deepen my expertise in the field, I later obtained a Diploma in Human Security and Sustainability from ISPI.
From October 2022 to April 2023, I served as a Project Manager and Country Representative, establishing a mission in Ukraine. In this role, I coordinated a six-month emergency project funded by AICS (€362,800 budget), providing healthcare and psychological support to displaced persons and distributing medical equipment to hospitals.
Since July 2024, I have been working in Dnipro, Ukraine, as a Project Manager for VIS, the lead NGO in a twelve-month emergency project with a total budget of €1,800,000, funded by AICS.
