Camilla Mondini
Hello there! After graduating from the Conservatory in Bergamo, Italy, I spent two years in South America where I worked on various projects in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, and Mexico. In Tijuana, Mexico, I had my first signficicant experience in an international cooperation project, at La Casa del Migrante. A shelter for migrants from all Central and South American who are fleeing their countries and seeking asylum in the United States.
I returned to Europe last December and a few weeks later, an Italian association called ASCS asked me to open a small shelter for men on the move on the French border with the UK in Calais. In January, together with a colleague, I letf Italy for Calais where I opened this project where I still work now.
The process of developing a project from the ground up, which includes drafting a project, charter of values, budget, accounting, partnering with other associations, and donors, has been very stimulating and has faced many challenges. I decided to take this course to enhance my understanding of this field and improve our ongoing project.
I speak Italian, English, Spanish, French, and I am currently studying Arabic.
In an emotionally charged enviroment I find literature to be a valuable distraction. The most recent book I read was The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
